Well that is the problem. Unfortunately fixing it is not quite so simple. The firmware needs to be dowmloaded from the dealer network and is not a simple transferable file. Your dealer needs to do this for you. Once done, you can use your software when not connected to the dealer site.

I agree about the 5000 but the lack of Beolink codes is a big disadvantage. The ideal would be the 5500 with Powerlink sockets as well as I find Speakerlink of little use. No use with Beolab 3s or 4000s. The pre-amp on the 5000 is in my view quite a bit better than the 5500 and the display is also superior. The drop down panel is also something I miss

To see what firmware you have, press the red dot and central button together, and then go down to info. The top line is software version - which should read 1.34a.

Works perfectly in my set up. I do use an iPod as a remote though but the Beo4 works as it should.

You have lost me here! Why do you need two Beoports? The problem with having two will be Masterlink having two identical sources. Even if you set the Beoport to Option 4, this only works in the room it is in and external commands will still see it as a Beoport. But why do you need two? I have all my music on one computer and access that from any room

There is actually another problem! B&O have released a firmware update for the Beo5 but this can only be downloaded by being attached to the dealer intranet. So even if you have the latest software, you will also need the dealer log in to get the firmware. Dealers can be persuaded to give up the software - not traceable and saves them a job - but

You need an earth from the chassis which should eliminate the hum. It normally travels along the cable to the casing of the DIN plug.

Which version do you have? The latest is 1.30 and you need this to work with the latest firmware in the Beo5, which is 1.34a.

The 5503 will be the US version of the 5501 so I suggest that is the manual to use. There were some 4002s fitted with the CD4 board - it was an optional extra. You can tell as the board is fitted under the control panel and there is a switch on the right hand side. I attach a picture!
