If your BG 5000 is like mine, the transport screws are located under the platter, do like this Dismount your cantilever, one hand hold the arm steady, the other hand grip the cantilever with 2 fingers, wiggle and pull carefully until it comes of, put it aside in a secure place, its worth gold if its OK. Now try if you can get a finger or 2 under the

I made it with a M5 screw, hexagonal nut and a brass knob pressed on the head of the screw

Went on to the main board, had to put the unit upright to get to solder and component sides simultanius. The output stage I swung aside and secure with a pair of cable straps. To find the right solderpoints I put my working lamp close to the solderside, and from the componentside I could see the siliuets of tracks and the shadow of my finger was put

Well it got to sunday before I got to it. I had allready dismanteled everything so I was ready to change caps, lamps and output transistors, did not desolder anything before I got all the parts, and checked that everything was there, I dismanteled the whole front without desoldering anything, to put it together again is a PIB, recommend a flat magnetic
