They work very good as rear speakers. I've just purchased two Beovision 8's, and experimented with a pair of BL 4000 in a large room upstairs with one BV 8 and the 4000 as rear speakers. You are correct, in that the video programs take a lot of the 250 memory. USB is one way to connect, with Firewire 400 or 800 a much faster method.
