CD50 can be kind of a pain in the ass to work on. I have 4 that I have fixed so far and two more sitting on the bench. Biggest problem I see with them is the spindle motors slowly wearing out and going bad with no replacement other than a donor unit. As rear speakers in combination with a larger front speaker RL60 or S80 thereabouts they are OK but the sound can get kind of unpleasant at higher volume levesl. I like the speakers and they do work well in tandem with a larger front set at moderate listening levels. Say no higher tha 3:8 on a BM 5000/5500. I like usuing them as side speakers in an

A setup I sometime have used is a Beomaster 3000, Beogram 3000 and CDX from the mid 80's along with a set of Redlines. works well and looks good together Not as versatile as the other sets mentioned but as a stand alone system it is just fine.

Beomaster 2000 (70's version) & Beomaster 1000. Verry rarely ever come up for auction in the USA

Samsung & Olevia LCD Tv's with a Samsung and Phillips DVD players. No Blu Ray yet. A couple iPod nano's 2nd and current generation. Klipsch Icon speakers in the studio.

Some rather interesting old LP's I picked up the other day. The Melachrino Strings could really get down and boogie !!!! their elevator/lounge version of Greensleeves really rocks it.

That settles it then. I will replace the caps only in my second set of s-45's with standard electrolytics only. Should run me about $8 compared to the 40 to 50 dollars I paid on the first set.

The sales pitch on foil caps is less distortion, better harmonics and greater range, which leads to an improvement in sounds quality. Thats the sales pitch, not me talking. I have used Solen caps as well as Jantzen and Dayton foil caps with good results. What strikes me odd is the variation in price. I have usually resorted to best bang for the buck
