I agree with Kevin. I've had good success using a drop of sewing machine oil, smeared around the inside of the cylinder using a little finger. Clean off any old lubricants first of course. Are you using an antenna ? The discriminator lights are supposed to light up evenly when a station is tuned spot on. The AFC button should correct if tuned in close. If it doesn't maybe one lamp is bad. Martin

What you describe is a typical symptom of a dying cantilever suspension. Martin
