Very nice amplifier - pre-cursor to the 4400 though fairly different electronically. It took over from the Beolab 5000/Beomaster 5000 in many ways and produced a similar package in a more elegant and smaller package. I had one I used for a while but stopped as the transformer was quite noisy in the one I had.

Definitely get it serviced. It doesn't sound like the tube itself but more like something peripheral with a bad connection.

To be fair it does seem a bit silly that you have a system that uses one cable but need another cable to connect the same two pieces of equipment. To be fair the other way, I don't suppose the Sony distributes sound around the house.

Sounds like a dodgy connection to the IR transceiver in the BM5000 to me!

Agree that this is a somewhat optimistic sale - not heard on Beovisions selling for a premium over list and certainly not an older one! However the picture of the later BV5s is in my view superb and certainly in the UK is still worth considering. Considering one myself actually!!

Singapore is PAL B/G - I didn't think the AV9000 made it to the US. Where did it come from? It may simply be set to the incorrect type of PAL which allows picture but you will get the incorrect sound. Go to where the tuning is and go to tune a programme and you will see the third box has a letter in it. This will be the system used by the TV. You

No. It is a software issue and is fixed by updating the firmware - it needs to be 1.34a if it isn't already. Charge it overnight and see what firmware it has tomorrow.
