The same had happened to my 4000. My dealer replaced the whole cable with a thick powerlink cable and cut off the middle pin. Works very well! Seems to have lots of shielding!

My Iomega 1Tb external disc has just failed - as it is the back up disc, nothing lost! I need a new one with Firewire - any suggestions to what would be a good one?

I am afraid that this site and Safari are not the best of bedfellows. For this reason, I always use Firefox . I can confirm that the link button doesn't work! We are about to upgrade the site and this should fix this and a couple of other Safari issues.

To access the manuals you need to be a silver or gold member so I am afraid Andy's links are not going to get you there. Try Option 6 first and if not working, let me know. My system is pretty similar so I can play around with mine to check!
