Thanks, Stan. I wasn't aware that Macs create a hidden file for each file on windows. That might explain things. I have plenty of space on the external hard drive, and it doesn't seem to be any file in particular that might be corrupted. It does seem to be an issue with the number of files. I'm thinking of trying to divide the "mac"

There is no doubt that some people have strong opinions regarding the physical media vs. hard-drive stored media debate. Just as I'm sure people did regarding vinyl, cassette tapes, 8-track, VHS, and ... Beta. I admit to still keeping a lovely rosewood Beogram 8002 out of nostalgia. The beauty of B&O is that there is something for everyone.

I agree with Trip. Since I have had the BeoSound 5, I have found that I have not listened to a single CD at home. My BeoCenter 2 is now only used for DVDs. In my home, at least, CD has now become obsolete. I would much rather purchase an album from iTunes to prevent the step of ripping the CD and adding good cover art. I have noticed that there are

Replacing the fuse was indeed very easy! The fuses were available at Radio Shack for less than $1. To think that I nearly chucked the LC1 in the trash, thinking it was destroyed! Thank you all for your kind advice.

The BeoConnect update will certainly help matters by creating sub folders within the "mac" folder on the BeoSound 5. I've been having difficulties copying the "mac" folder on the BS5 to an external hard drive (formatted for the mac and windows). With a transfer time of about 60 minutes, I keep getting an error during the last

Thanks, Paul. I was unaware of that update. That will certainly help. I hope that B&O comes up with a way to create folders for the music that has already been dumped into the common folder from the old version. That really created a mess.

Unfortunately, that's not practical for music transferred via Beoconnect on the Mac OS. On a Mac, Beoconnect dumps everything into one folder on the BS5 and doesn't organize the music by artist sub-folders. BeoPlayer is designed to facilitate keeping the music synchronized. There just doesn't seem to be a way to change the preferences to

Thanks, Saf. You are correct about the way to tell Beoplayer to scan for an external hard drive. It does that well and shows which music is on the BeoSound 5 or on the scanned hard drive or on both. The problem is with directing Beoplayer to copy any non-synchronized files from the Beosound 5 to the external hard drive. The default setting is for Beoplayer

While not as bad as with CRT, LCD can suffer from image persistence and still needs a screen saver. http://compreviews.about.com/od/monitors/a/LCDBurnIn.htm The point I was making is that B&O released this update with this error in the software.
-
Yes. That's the whole point of using screen savers. I've noticed instances with the new upgrade where the "hold" function will, indeed, retain the image on top of the screen saver.
