The vocal part (upper mid range) is not over pronounced, that is the part that is missing. It is the tweeter that is over pronounced. In a vocal, that is really just the S's and T's. Connect it to the LINE input on the back of the 4000's. I did it with my mac, same thing . Pitfall is that Ipod's do not have very good sound quality when compared to B&O units.
