• Re: Beovox M70 Fret Badges

The older generic ones were a simple gold B&O. You could find these made into tie pins - I had a little stash a while ago but I am afraid I have no idea what I did with them I am sure someone will have some of those though!

  • Re: BeoLab 6000 vs. 4000

It is great value - I have two pairs! But it is not an outstanding speaker - but it is a good one. In my view it does everything well but nothing outstandingly. There again, most speakers don't even manage that! I think I wrote the hidden gem line and I would stick with it - I think the 4000 is a good compact all rounder and if called upon to recommend

  • Re: beomaster 4400 and beovox s60.

The S60 was made to partner the BM4000 and was subtley upgraded to match the BM4400 as the S75. There are a number of differences but having used both with the 4400, the S60s will be fine. Do you have the gorgeous trumpet stands?

I agree with Graham - nothing beats listening for yourself. I prefer 4000s - I think the bass is better and they are more convenient. I don't think either are great speakers though. The 4000 is good value (for B&O). If you are after good sound from a small speaker, the Beolab 3 is very nice but I would suggest that for a big room, I would look

  • Re: Refurbishing a pair of Beovox S40 speakers

In the UK at least, the S45-2 was sold alongside the new shape Uniphase range. I imagine the newer range were cheaper to make - the fit and finish is certainly not as good though the actual sound can be excellent. The S120 took over from the S45-2 as the best sounding speaker in the range.

The best upgrade is to buy some S45-2 speakers! Same frontal aspect but a superior speaker. Available for usually little money - I gave a pair away not long ago! Still kept one pair - I must do the cross overs some day but they still sound great!
Forgive me for being thick, but what do the figures for DSOTM mean Dark Side of The Moon! The album's title.
Not that thick! I meant the dB figures! It would appear the CD has a slightly wider dynamic range - which is counter intuitive. But I may well be interpreting the figures wrongly. I have many recordings

Forgive me for being thick, but what do the figures for DSOTM mean. To these uncultured eyes, it would appear the CD side is more dynamic than the SACD side, or am I completely wrong? I do know that the vinyl version of the 30th anniversary edition sounded better than the CD of the same album - it seemed more dynamic. The CD sounds flat though obviously
