I can make a copy myself and store it in my computer but whether the next but one operating system will be able to handle it when my tape players are defunct is a bit of a chance. Backward compatibility is not a priority in modern computers.
This is one of the reasons I have all my audio in lossless and/or uncompressed
The amazing opportunities presenting themselves outpace any disadvantages, I think. It's just a question of adapting to the newer formats, and that is driven by convenience and access.[ Edited the rest of your post for convenience - Electrified]
Your post is huge (nothing wrong with that, though), but it
In fact on many tracks the 'musicians' are sat in front of a computer keyboard generating all the sounds you hear
Ok, I'm not young anymore (turned 37 yesterday, sigh!), but Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Depeche Mode are all "computer music", so to speak. Sigur Ros is another great example
Just talked to my dealer. B&O hope for the next BM5 update to take place in week 4 (no year mentioned though). This should be a major update. It better must be Mjor update with such a long waiting time.............
God, I hope so! Smaller (think "almost as small as a Fit-PC2i"), and while they're
Nope, I will never do cloud computing in any way form or fashion. It's either a very brave, very shortsighted, or very foolish person who says an unqualified 'never'.
It's called "having principles". - besides, I do think I qualified that statement. [quote user="tournedos"

Nope, I will never do cloud computing in any way form or fashion. I don't even use webmail, but a proper mail-app with pop (not imap), in order to have my mails physically on my harddisk. I will never use, say, Google Docs, because if I need to write a proper letter, I prefer to keep it somewhere that is not dependant on an internet connection.
Honestly, connecting an Ipod doe snot give you great sound. You might be disappointed, but try, you need the cable anyhow.
That is propably because of the sub-par headphone amp in the iPod or because of low bitrate, or both. Using the line out, either via a dock or via a "pocketdock" from Sendstation

If both 1. & 2. are lossless conversions, to what do you attribute the apparent superioity of the wma lossless file?
Primarily, on a blind test - comparing the same song at the same (lossless) resolution on the BM5. I encourage you to do the same. Now to the speculative part
-
Also, you may find that Apple Lossless audio files played on Windows-based software (i.e. the BeoPlayer / BeoSound media player software loaded on the BeoMaster) have a slightly inferior sound quality than the supported lossless formats (i.e. WMA Lossless). Try a compare of the same sound clip in the two different formats

I have a few questions, which, unfortunately is sort of requests: Are there any plans - official or not, tentatively or hard and fast - to make the Beosound 5 respond to the remote? I mean, so that you from afar can use the screen to navigate your music? Using a telly for that makes the BS5 superfluous, imo. Secondly, since the BS5 is hardwired, would
