• Re: Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

Thanks Mika. No, this is my first. More or less flush... Okay then. They are all like this?

  • Re: Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

Thanks Graham. What am I supposed to do then? Nothing looks broken or displaced, and the overhang is symetrical. It leaves a 4 mm gap between the cover and the back.

  • Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

Hello! So I've got myself a nice Beogram 5005 for a miserly 50€. It works, but the MMC4 has lost its stylus and cantilever! How can you adjust the lid? The hinges are fine but its depth is wrong. There is a clear gap at its back, and it protrudes at the front. There must be some kind of adjustment, surely? Thanks!

  • Re: Beogram CD 5500 no power

Anyway, yet another cap problem! This one had become a resistor! It's amazing - I now have some experience in B&O - how those electrolytics cause the majority of failures! I now buy very cheap, and non-functional but the equipment HAS to be nice to look at!

  • Re: What Are You Working On Now ?
23 days without a cigarette .... and I am a total lunatic !!!!
Well done! Think of your poor equipment... it detests smoke, especially CD player lenses!

It's a CR-4. The speakers are mint MC120-2 with original stands.

By the way, is the "clack" noise normal when the tray opens (just after you press the button)? It's the mech hitting the bottom plate!

  • Re: Beogram CD 5500 no power

Now proudly showing off in the system's rack... The odd one out is?? Oh, and by the way, it does sound GREAT! And NO the Beomaster 6000 is not, will never be for sale, no matter how you beg.

  • Re: Beogram CD 5500 no power

Busted! The 12V zener (D5) had given up the ghost. It is used to provide the LM324 (tray functions) +DC. The player now works perfectly! By the way, is it normal that the magnetic puck is never properly centered on the CDM? And isn't the CompactDisc logo supposed to light up?

  • Re: Beogram CD 5500 no power

Right then. I replaced the 240V strap with a fuse holder, shorted the thermo fuse and the Beogram lives again, producing music and being stable. BUT the tray doesn't work . The heating was due to a shorted cap (C3). Some progress...
