What tracking weight are you using? It should be 2g for the SP14. Remember these are old cartridges and it could be worn. The SP12 would be better and tracks at 1.2g.

The obvious choice is the 8000 system and CDX - the best sound quality in many ways. I would personally go for a Beomaster 4400, Beogram 4002, CDX and a Beocord 5000 (the latter is 70s really) with some good Uniphase speakers. No remote of course but a much better amplifier and the whole thing will keep working and be a lot easier to repair if it doesn't

S120s - probably the best balanced passive speaker that B&O made. Plenty of bass. Only problem is that the bass cones suffer from foam rot but this is quite easy to repair.
