Why do you want to upgrade the software? I have an original one and it works fine. If you are not using RDS then I don't think there is much point. I think you may find it tricky to get hold of anyway.

The software in the handset has to be 2.5 or higher. I think it has to be a mark 2 to be able to get this.

Craig: Peter : There is a recognised problem with earthing. You may need to earth the aerial connection - mine has an earth connection from the co-axial plug. Peter, is this the co-axial of the Sky box or the co-axial of you Avant? Craig It is the terrestrial aerial - in my case between the Sky box and the V8000 . Was done when the system was installed

Agree with above. The problem will be if some poor chap drops it! I had one that was dropped and it caused a lot of damage! The Rega CD player should fit well. There was no matching CD player - I use a CDX. They fit through the Tape 2 connections which use RCA sockets. Well worth finding the cassette player - a Beocord 8004 would probably be the one

Not rare - I have two! I think £600 could be a little optimistic though - a bit under £500 in my opinion if in good condition. Problems are commonly seen with the Mute relay affecting one channel on Speaker 1. Cassette belts are another issue.

Agree with the consensus. 4000s are the unsung stars of the B&O range. They used to make stands so they attached to the BC2500 etc and looked very good.

My iPod classic 160Gb and I are very happy, whether it be dog walking with some A8s or in bed with some Sennheisser HD600s. I have had a BS2 but the lack of display and automatic loudness made it less than ideal. The battery life was also poor compared to my iPod. The iPod is also cheap enough to be disposable in my view and when a bigger one arrives

True, but this has always been the case. There will still be products to suit them. The Beocenter 2 is not going anywhere for a while.
