that is correct when you free format 0 the tv changes from its internal display to its external display VGA on this model. VGA should give you a very good image anyway i dont think VGA carries HD to be honest but you will get an output.

Hi there OP have you connected your Projector to the DVI or VGA Try and connect it to the VGA as the DVI is an input on ealier models.

on my MK3 i get the following screens within connections. What output did the MK1 have i cannot remember i did not use it as a cinema system until i got my MK3

As far as i remember the DVI on the MK1 is an input is it not?
