Depends... I am sure your picture qualtiy watching normal TV will not increase that much. But, if you intend to - ugrade your screen to full hd (panasonic professinal display can be used....), or - want to connect a blue ray player via HDMI connection, or - want to watch digitally stored content via a device that has HDMI only, or - buy a sony playstation
