wtlc2zpx: The thing about Apple Lossless is that it is available in iTunes, which has become the predominant tool for managing our music library. Yes, I understand - but as I don't have that or any other Apple product, I can objectively look at it as just another attempt at vendor lock-in If it can be licensed without some ridiculous conditions

soundproof: 3. I do however feel that a modern, digital playback system should have lossless options in addition to lossy - if only for peace of mind, in knowing that you do not have an unnecessary filter between yourself and the music. Personally I don't believe either that lossless must be there for quality reasons. But leaving it out would be

  • Linnet & Laursen?

What happened to Linnet & Laursen? From just browsing eBay listings, I can see the company survived into the transistor age (mid-60s?) but googling didn't give me much else. I can see they did some funky looking radios way back, and Linnet himself can be seen drilling something in the very early pictures in "From Spark to Icon"...

I had the Master 43 on my watch list as well, and it really is gone (as are all his listings???). I didn't seriously think of buying it though, I just like to follow the prices - I'm pretty much maxed out with space for my collection now. I agree many of these deals seem highly underrated. I guess it's because most people don't have

Well it is certainly worth using! If the going rates are like that over there, I'd just add a CD player, some decent speakers and keep the thing.

Jandyt: Are you starting a museum Mika? I hope not! The 900K in my avatar was my first piece of B&O, so I have a soft spot for this model. I probably won't be satisfied until I have a 900RG as well... (fat chance finding one in Finland, though). That 900K spends the warm seasons at the summer house, the other one is in use on the girlfriend's

  • Beomaster 900 signal strength meter

I now have 3 Beomaster 900's (I didn't have an M model before, so I just had to buy this nice unit with a black front, type 2222-3...) and two of them have trouble with the signal strength / tuning meter. Basically it works, but it will not lower below a certain point. It seems to be a mechanical problem, since the needle stays high even when

Not a bad idea. Perhaps there's a market for iPod leads to the Grammofon connector?
