AFAIK, the auto stand-by function relies on Datalink communication with the selected sound source (record/CD/tape player) to know when it has stayed in "stop" mode for more than 30 minutes. Your iPod isn't a B&O source and doesn't know anything about this, so the Beomaster can't know when it is not playing and stays on.
