  • Re: Beogram 8000 drags stylus

Derek: I stand corrected, I should have said I use the “Pause” button, which causes the arm to raise and remain stationary. No, I don’t have the “works” from my original BG 8000 or the tattered shell from the donor, both of which were returned to my friend in California. Talk about the short end of a deal. I got a pristine

  • Beogram 8000 drags stylus

My Beogram 8000 suffered at a repair facility to such an extent that I gave up on the turntable. This 8000 was cosmetically pristine so a friend offered me the “works” from a tattered, but functioning Beogram 8000. With everything changed out, I now have a functional Beogram 8000, with one exception. When the turntable is playing a record

  • Re: Beocord 8004 'vs Beocord 9000

Martin, You really are an amazing asset for B&O enthusiasts. My intermittent non-working LED has “failed” only three times and each occurrence was very brief indeed. All LED’s have been operating correctly for weeks, so following my basic motto: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” I will leave things alone

  • Re: Absolute beginner needs help

I purchased three Beograms on eBay (4000, 4002, & 4004) and I have learned form past mistakes. First never buy anything, electronics especially where the seller has one photo and a grainy one at that. The more detailed pictures the better. Look for photos of EVERY angle. Then ask the seller questions PRIOR to making a bid. A good seller will answer

Thank you Peter and Martin for your insight. My Beocord 8004 was so badly damaged in shipment that UPS refunded the purchase price as well as the shipping. Any sane person would have taken the money and run. I, on the other hand making no claim to “sanity” took the money and with the help of Bill Rapp who supplied the full idler tire assembly

  • Beocord 8004 'vs Beocord 9000

I just purchased a Beocord 9000 on eBay that reportedly is in like-new condition having seen extremely little usage. (Long story, unrelated to this question.) I previously purchased a Beocord 8004 that was badly damaged in shipment, now fully restored and performing amazingly well. After that experience (broken glass panel and broken internal parts

  • Re: Help with a Beogram 4000

Hi Kev, Sorry to hear about the pneumonia, I’ll bet that took the ginger out of the holidays. However glad to hear that your projects went so well. If I had it to do all over, I would have exercised even MORE patience than I did, so that my Beogram 4000 dustcover would have ended up flawless. (In stead of merely very good.) I couple of times I

  • Re: Hello and a bit of advice on Beogram 4000

Peter's advice is always sound however if you are not technically comfortable working on such a complex beast as the Beogram 4000, you would be well advised to find a highly qualified shop to take it to for reassembly. I too purchased a Beogram 4000 on eBay and it arrived in tatters, with broken internal pieces and the dust cover in ruins. Help

  • Re: Help with a Beogram 4000

Hi Kev, The one common thread in the various dustcover restorations is there is no quick fix. Every process seems to take a good bit of time. As such if I had it to do over I would have exercised even MORE patience with my Beogram 4000 dustcover, perhaps even trying a courser grit, say 1800, and then not stop until each and every scratch was completely

  • Re: Help with a Beogram 4000

Hi Kev, It seems that we were both working on polishing Beogram 4000 dustcovers prior to the Christmas holidays while using the same brand products. What a coincidence. I too was caught up in all the holiday activities, so I missed your communication. Sorry about that. I am interested to learn how the Micro-mesh belt worked out. From the sounds of it
