  • Beovox 5700s. Free to someone who can give them TLC

I've recently accquired a pair of these fantastic looking monsters that cosmetically are in great condition - a little bit of work is needed (and I do mean a little) to get them excellent/mint. Internally, the woofer dust-caps perished a long time ago and it sounds to me as though the woofers are history. One (curiously) of the wire mesh covers

Hi Neil I'm in the East Midlands and am currently making frequent trips down to Tim J. and would be happy to help as long as it's not enormous. What sort is it - I don't really fancy lugging an Avant about Cheers Nigel

  • Re: Odd marks on a CD tray of a CD5500

I think your diagnosis is spot on Steve. I had some alloy wheels on a Peugeot once that went exactly the same way. Now wheels in an outside environment I can understand corroding, but a CD tray???? There's no other signs of corrosion inside the machine - very bizarre.... Fortunately I've got another CD5500 with a dead laser but a perfect tray

  • Re: Beosystem 5500 Questions

You can actually see the difference in the 2 I've recently sold - the later ones had an additional ring on the CD tray to take smaller CDs - there may be other differences that I don't know of. Peter - I do have an earlier one which has been fettled By Tim J. (dry solder joints). I went to have a look for it's serial number and was a bit
