If you have a Lintronic box or a similar device for capturing infrared codes, then you could post or send the timings in a text file

If you have the facilities to capture one command from your original remote for the HD 831, then I could determine if any of the PUC library entries are compatible with it. In that case use the PUC version and you will not have any un-neccesary buttons.

What you are describing is called " Corona Discharge " and is often a short arcing of high voltage (25 Kilo Volts) between the EHT (Extra High Tension) cable and chassis or other component.
