Certainly can be done - see http://www.qppltd.co.uk/ They show some high quality satin finishes in Nickel or Chrome, I'm sure a search will find a similar supplier close by the Soundsmith factory if they wanted to experiment.

Value is a personal judgement depending on lots of things, obviously your financial situation being one of them. Each person will value things differently depending on their own personal benchmarks and references. I must say however that I find the Serene particularly awkward looking and quite bulky. I would find it a chore to carry it and use it as

Peter: Actually it turned out to be 6Mb and I have put it on site. Is it good enough? Not quite got the hang of the scanner yet - I need to flatten the pages more! Done it in grey scale though some of the diagrams are in colour but that would clearly make the files even bigger! I've had a bash at reducing the file size further (4.4mb) and it clearly

Peter: Got the scanner working but not happy with my first attempt! Service manuals are clearly going to be large - 10Mb + in pdf form. Plan to do the Beomaster 6000 quad first! Is the file size you quote after "Distilling" (adobe utility to minimise pdf files sizes)??

The first is a varistor which will be across the mains to protect against overvoltage spikes etc. In normal operation it doesn't actually do anything and so you could actually remove it to see whether you device continues to blow fuses. The other possibility

I would definitely situate the BM5000 near the speakers and run the line level signal upstairs.

soundproof: jandyt: Pity,Peter that you didn't think of this cable malarkey before the shootout in Newcastle! It would have been interesting if listeners could distinguish between 'proper' B&O cable and bell wire. Andy T. Waste of time. I have seen don't know how many different tests, blind, double-blind and whatnot, and the evidence

soundproof: This may have been covered - but I'd like to see the menu line above the General Forum changed, if possible. HOME on a site is usually the starting page for the site; here it's different things. When you're in the Forum, as I am now, it takes you to the Forum opening page, not www.beoworld.org. Since NEWS etc, are at the www

Perhaps we should use the B&O font
