Paul I would definately look at the points Martin suggested, as to say the board is duff is not much of a diagnosis in my opinion! He should at least have said processor, or some other supporting device! My recent MCP5500 showed similar symptoms and it turned out that some battery acid had found its way onto the main board and damaged a track. The damage

Geoff, go back to your fishing tackle supplier and ask for fishing chord, as used by fly-fishers. There are other alternatives such as Linen thread or lacing chord. There are options out their but I am sure the nylon will be ok...

B&O service are talking rubbish these filler drivers are very specific and no modern equivelent will do. First try taking the drivers apart, but do so very carefuly so as not to damage the hair-thin enamled wires to the outer ring. I suspect you will find the voice coil has come loose from the dome so a little speaker cement will stick them back

There is a 220uf and 22uf capacitor although I cannot remember what the voltage ratings are - they are on the lower PCB part of the 5v supply. Repalcements should be 105 degree low esr and a good make. Worth a shot for what they cost!

Regards the switch sensitivity issue, you need to unsolder the brass contacts that look like a goalposts - you should see these when looking at the component side of the switch pcb. Gently clean the tarnished contact surfaces and your switches

What do you mean by hiccup? If I take a hickup to mean the arm seems to get momentarily stuck, could your coil (only when energized), be slightly moving off center and catching or rubbing?
