Somehow I knew you were going to say that Martin. The dampener is definitely not functioning. This unit was playing tapes perfectly well as long as I was mindful of the cannon-like manner this 9000 shot the tape out. Then, without any warning, the mechanism refused to lock down in the play position. I will give it a good look on my day off….

The lack of recognition of the presence of a tape is not a fuse or belt issue. The problem is the eject mechanism no longer locks in the down or play position. All it will do is catapult the tape into the air, repeatedly . I have the repair manual courtesy of BeoWorld, what I would like is to have some suggestions as what to look for with this mechanical

I just purchased a spectacular Beocord 9000 on eBay which has performed beautifully. One lone exception; I noticed that when the eject button was pressed, the mechanism engages with such force as to fling the cassette tape nearly a foot. I remember I had this same problem on my Beocord 8004, which was corrected by my shop in Vancouver. In any case,

Rob, Chris is spot on in regard to shipping, however I would like to add that if you really want this Beogram 8000 to arrive in one piece, and in addition to Chris’ suggestions you should insist on double-boxing, which in my opinion makes all the difference between disaster and a safe arrival. I received three damaged Beograms (4000, 4002, and

I have noticed that my Beogram 4002 tone-arm has a considerable back and forth motion during play. I would guesstimate that it is as much as 4mm of side to side movement. By comparison my Beogram 4000 has a back and forth movement of say 2mm or less. So is the normal? When I first received the 4002 I noticed that the 20EN cartridge had a great deal

My McIntosh 2255 “should” be in route to me at this time. Thirty days of testing revealed no problem with the amplifier, and thus questions as the user. (Me!) Fair enough, but with my direct wiring the amp to a single set of Linn Isobaric speakers and direct wiring a B&O CDX player as the only source resulted in a discouraging performance…

Peter, Well no one is perfect. However, to find a Beomaster 8000 from you would be a terrific advantage. I would know in advance that it would be in superb condition. Before I take another B&O plunge to add to my B&O obsession…. I mean collection: Beogram 4000, 4002, 4004, 8000, CDX, Beomaster 2400, 4500, Beocord 8004 and 9000 I need

Thanks Peter, the Beomaster 8000 would have been my personal guess, but it feels better hearing this from you. I will also consider the Beomaster 4400. As always, I really appreciate your sage advice. Please note that although the Beomaster 2400 did indeed heat up considerably, it never gave the slightest hint of displeasure. You had previously assured

I would like to replace a mega powered McIntosh amplifier with a Bang & Olufsen product. I have a perfectly wonderful Beomaster 2400 and 4500, but neither are up to the challenge. The 2400 comes closest to duplicating the volume via three sets of inefficient speakers, but gets awfully hot in the process. The Beomaster 4500 has an incredibly beautiful

Derek, The Beogram 8000 functions properly in the sense that it dependably will play a record. Press play and the tonearm moves into the correct position and drop gently on the record. The turntables plays with no issues and the tonearm picks up at the end of play with no problem. The only problem comes if I want to skip a passage and forget to press
