Better to buy an iPod dock without speakers (19.99 from Richer sounds inclusing remote), connect this to a suitable amplifier ( a vintage Beomaster would be ideal) using a suitable cable and wire up you speakers to that. Simon

Pink Floyd - DSOTM Listening to it for the umpteenth time, but it still sounds as good as ever on a Sunday morning! Simon

All of the B&O resellers mentioned need repeat business and recommendations to be successful, so I would be quite confident dealing with any of them. Simon

Interesting discussion to follow but I am not in a position to make a technoical judgement! Happily my Beomaster is the 5000 so I don't have the extra caps to start with. Perhaps the clincher is the fact that the Beomaster 7000 is question was unlikely to be used without the mods, so in the case leaving the the amp unmodded wasn't an option

Hi Cleve You are far from alone in your thoughts! I have had similar thoughts to you ever since I read this thread a while ago http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/p/5593/40645.aspx#40645 For those without the time to read through the whole thread, essentially nobody on the thread suggests that an expensive pair of Beolab 8000s matches up to the sound quality

If you know the exact serquence of keys you need to press you might be OK, bit that will be hrad wothout a Mk1 6000 to use as a template. Probably best to but one of the upgrade kits from a dealer. Simon

It all depends if there is anywhere in your house you can accomodate more B&O. The Beomaster 1001 is a nice looking unit and has B&O's 'Ambiophonic' facility if you plugged four speakers in. If it was me I would have fun playing with that and then decide what to keep but the 2702 and the Beomaster are cerainly well worth keeping

i got 'Mrs 9 LEE' some 'Creme de la Mer' (ridiculously priced) at a discount for Christmas. She was delighted, but it hasn't made her look 20 years younger.. damn... Lee
I'm guessing she doesn't read the forum then Lee?
He may not live to

I love the look of the Beomaster 800. I can't recall ever seeing one for sale but I will certainly be keeping an eye out from now on! Simon

I am not sure about the Avant end of things but have you considered a Headphone Amplifier? At one end of the scale there are a number of budet offerings available on eBay, and quite a few Audiophile-level components if you are able to spend more. Simon
