  • Re: Workshop Beogram CD / BeoCenter CD - How to adjust the CD Laser Current

Yes, i have done some of these replacements. The laser pickup can be removed and installed on the other drive. It's compatible to the old and the newer version. There are just 2 bolts for the assembly... pretty easy. Just take care for the the foil cables, that's all. The motor itself cannot be disassembled without special tools, but this is

Hi Menahem, the CDM 2 is a little bit different to the CDM 4 drive, the motor and the laser pickup changed. The older CDM 2 drive is specified with a laser current adjustment of 40 mV, the newer CDM 4 with 50mV in the manuals (CD5500 - 7000). But: the 50mV of the newer drives seems not to be correct, if you check it in a original and never modified

Passive Pentas have no protection circuits, there is just the crossover in the socket, nothing else. Active Beolab Pentas have a protection circuit in the amp of course. But if Henrykin used active Pentas, the modification of the BM amplifier would make no sense, he would not hear it because it wouldn't be used. So he must have used passive Pentas

  • Re: Workshop BM6500 BM7000

The BM5500 uses a 16kB eprom chip, the BM6500/7000 a 64kB eprom, they are not compatible. Also 6500 and 7000 are not identical, the 6500 is a upgraded and modified 5500 cpu. My BM5500 is one of the very first white editions, the revision i dont know, just the chip number 834105-3. The BM7000 is revision 1.3.

  • Re: Workshop BM6500 BM7000

BM5500 and BM6500/7000 have different software levels. A BM5500 has up to 60 volume steps, but the BM7000 has 78. 60=78, it's just a software question... the real hardware chip for volume is identical and has 255 steps.

You are right, the caps are shown in the manuals of the BM 5500 - 6500 - 7000, but missing in the manual of the BM5000. The BM5000 does not have these caps, i checked it, yes, they are definitly missing. Also the BM5000 board does not show any hints to these caps. Congratulations, you found another mod. :)

Not broken, maybe it will and can work with your amp. But it is a high risk to remove parts out of the feedback loop. Maybe you are lucky and it works with your amp... I have a BC9300 here for repair which does not play a certain CD, but on a other BC9300 it works perfectly. It has nothing to do with the drive, it's the sound of the music causing

  • Re: Beo Master 7000

The amp becomes much faster with this mod, but it can become instable, causing spikes or oszillations on high frequencies. These caps are used for the damping in the feedback loop of the amp. I could imagine to make them smaller but i would not recommend this mod to remove them in total. They have 220nF, try 100nF or 150nF, there should be some audible

  • Re: Händlerverdienst bei Rabatt?!

Vielleicht hört er ja gerade auf und räumt seinen Bestand. B&O Händler geben normalerweise fast gar keinen Rabatt...
