Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up. Funky!

OK, job done - it took almost an hour including de- and restacking the Beosystem and I don't have another amp from this series to make comparisons. A revelation may be too strong a word, but there definitely is a difference. For a test drive, I listened to Dire Straits' Telegraph Road before and after, and I'm pretty sure the percussions

j0hnbarker: Thanks everyone! I think that everyone who loves B&O needs one Beolit somewhere in their home. They are still so useable, even here in the UK with DAB, that they just make sense. Not to mention the sound quality! Every time I demonstrate the 707 to heathens they just drop their jaw, how can such a sound eminate from such a little box

burantek: let us (me) know if you check you amazon account... my book order has magically vanished! Mine is still sitting there, with estimated delivery between Jan 19th - Feb 6th. Did you actually go to UK Amazon and not amazon.com? They seem to have separate order databases.

I can believe Peter's theory about these caps having been fitted to improve stability with long speaker wire runs; these amps are said to have problems in that area. It might well affect the highend enough so that even I will hear it... I might even have time do this tomorrow and will then report back. There is also the upgrade workshop by Die_Bogener

Jandyt: I'm starting to feel guilty, ordering mine from Amazon way back in August! And I feel like a 2nd class citizen for not receiving mine yet, even though I placed the Amazon order on Sep 2nd

Peter : I use a 5500 system every day and like it despite also having a BC2. There are some thoughts that the power amplifier is not the best - the 5000 is supposed to be better - a friend has identified that this is due to a few extra capacitors not itemised on the circuit diagram and says removing them makes a huge difference! I'll let you know

Puncher: A good thread, to which I post on the original in the "music" section, from time to time. My question is how far back anyone reads? I'm sure folk post and then check afteward to see if there's any reaction but........... does anyone look at the original post? I use the forum almost exclusively through the "not read"

Welcome to the forum! It may not fetch that much money if you try to sell it, but it certainly is collectable - they do not make them anymore, you know! Probably not that many of these big expensive models were made in the first place. I would grab it, if it's not outrageously priced and you have a place to display it. I have a Master 38K myself

Nice pics! I have two 707's, the other one needs work though; the volume & tone sliders were broken in transit, and the FM tuner is somehow completely unselective... but the sound on the working one is incredible!
