  • Re: HexCode for LAMP command

Lacking any of the appropriate equipment, I don't know the command semantics, but anyway: pressing LIGHT on Beo4 sends 0x1b9b (17 bits) pressing LIST until LAMP is displayed sends 0x1b58 pressing numbers in LAMP mode first sends 0x1b20, then 0x1b0? depending on the number (i.e two separate commands for each click) Hope this makes at least some sense

  • Re: Beocenter 9000, Beogram 3300, Penta questions

The stereo - take a look at the rear panel, there are two pairs of loudspeaker connectors. The muting function only affects the first pair.

  • Re: Beomaster 2400-2 tuning problem

Both the dial & the presets work together in this respect. Probably the tuning voltage setting is incorrect. I took a look in the service manual, and it looks like a straightforward job with a multimeter and a couple of trimpots on the preset board. Having never opened any of these units, I can't tell how much work it is to actually get there

  • Re: datalink pins in DIN socket

I took a look in the relevant service manuals, and as Ridax says, the datalink pins change role depending on whether the Beogram has an internal RIAA amp or not. BG9500 doesn't, so the data pin is 6, and you can leave 7 disconnected (it goesn't go anywhere in the Beogram, anyway). And the Ouverture makes this easy: it has both 6 and 7 connected

  • Re: Any new BeoLab in the near future?

[quote user="soundproof"] Ah, I get it. You're thinking of passive systems that just pipe the signal on? Today's home theatre processors perform quite a lot of calculations on the signal, particularly those that perform measurements of the room, in order to achieve the best possible sound, with an absence of room nodes, phase-outs

Hmm, looks like somebody has taken the phantom whatever idea further and gotten away with the three speakers per setup idea... sounds familiar... Seriously, do we have to call summing and subtracting "processing"?

  • Re: Moving Micro Cross (MMC) cartridges

Unfortunately no - I'm not really familiar with any particular type since even my vintage turntable (Beogram 6000) has internal RIAA :) Some manufacturers offer line amplifiers for signal level matching, but that gets so silly that I'd really rather live with the level difference.

  • Re: Moving Micro Cross (MMC) cartridges

B&O cartridges are definitely MM types when it comes to choosing the preamp input. However, their output levels are typically somewhat lower than other manufacturer's MM cartridges have. Therefore, if you have a choice, you might want to pick a preamp that has adjustable level, or be prepared to crank up the volume a little compared to other

  • Re: Beocenter 9000, Beogram 3300, Penta questions

Hello John, welcome to Beoworld! I'll have to pass on the CD since I'm not familiar with that type, I'm sure someone else will jump in on that. However, the speaker problem sounds like a faulty muting relay, which is very common in all B&O amps from this era. It's the relay that is supposed to silence the "local" pair of
