• CD servo board problem

Recently, I tried to play a CD on the Beocenter 8000 I have at the office. No sound came out, so walked up to the machine, opened the CD lid, and was greeted with a putrid puff of smoke *cough* I opened the unit today. No obvious faults anywere else, but two 10 ohm resistors on the servo board are clearly damaged, and badly off value (on the right in

  • Re: Power Off or Standby
I was not aware that switching on and off at the power point put a risk on the life of the power supplies of the electronics - myth or fact i want to know! It sounds like an unrealistic theory.
That would be usually the aging power supply caps. They may run just fine as long as they remain hot, but once you turn

  • Re: speaker2 out to headphones?

What a fantastic implementation! I would've never had the patience to build it so accurately that fixed plugs would hit their sockets!

  • Re: datalink pins in DIN socket
Are you sure that the Ouverture has the datalink pins in parallell on pin 6 and 7? If I recall correctly it has Datalink on one of the pins and Aux link on the other.
Not 100% sure as I've never seen one myself - but the schematic in the service manual shows it: (aaaargh. I hope the forum's attachment

  • Re: Best Blu-ray Player
The PS3 is also increadibly easy to update the firmware on it over the internet, whereas other players are not set up to do this. So you will always be taking full advantage of your Blu Ray movies because of this.
BDP-S350 (and I would expect the more expensive models also) does this as well.

  • Re: A vision in gold?

I can see a whole lot of these being installed on Caribbean cruise ships, right next to the mahogany furniture.

  • Re: Beolit 707 sounds terrible
hi tried this and sounds the same but quiet (with bleed from the radio) so probably the amp section at fault
OK, I guess we better wait for the experts before getting further... I can only give general ideas; the amp stage certainly has a quiescent current (or idle current) setting as well as a midpoint voltage

  • Re: Beolit 707 sounds terrible

One more idea - if you have a suitable source, try connecting something to the tape input and use the radio as an amplifier (press both FM & MW down to select the function). If the problem persists, we can then rule out the radio part as the source of the problem. The amp part will probably be much easier to fix, then we will just have to wait for

  • Re: Beolit 707 sounds terrible

I have two of these and both seem to have problems in the presence of strong signals (not necessarily the one you are trying to tune in). So as silly as it seems, try with the antenna down if you haven't already!

  • Re: Beomedia INside and Out

It's obvious the most expensive part in this unit is the B&O software. The masterlink card will probably be pricy as well, being far from a mass product. Other than that, it looks quite cleverly built, with the single fan taking care of both the hard disk and the hot parts of the motherboard. I can see only one problem keeping anyone from taking
