• A find at the skip

Around my building, there are a couple portable skips that were brought for the autumn leaves etc. People of course take advantage of them and the darkness and bring in all kind of junk. I just walked past it and noticed somebody had brought in a boxful of some funky '70s wallpaper. Being the packrat I am, I decided to take the box in for closer

  • Re: Restoring aluminum

I have the same stuff (called "Magic sponge" in Finland) and it has been excellent for cleaning wooden cupboard doors around the knobs, etc - and yes, it works with just water! It never occured to me to try it on B&O aluminum... thanks for the tip!

  • Re: European PayPal users beware!

Still not possible here - 14 chars max. Also, "money to bank account" is the only withdrawal option I see, although I have two credit cards registered. Perhaps it would need some money on the PayPal account, but I'm happy my balance is 0.00 €

  • European PayPal users beware!

On the last day of this month - on Monday night - the transition period to SEPA ( Single Euro Payments Area ) ends. From then on, European banks in SEPA area will no longer accept electronic money transfers using the old national bank account numbers, instead you are supposed to always use IBAN (and BIC). How does this affect PayPal users? It is a US

  • Re: BeoCenter 9500 -- displays 'Code' in upper right

The battery is inside the CPU module, no need to replace the whole thing. It's a 3V lithium cell (whose type you might find out by searching on the forums, I can't remember it). It is soldered in place - get a new cell with solder lugs, it'll explode on your face if you try to solder on a regular button cell directly. Take some necessary

  • Re: Grounding pin on Beomaster 5500

The grounding pin is mainly for the chassis ground of record decks. However, Beograms with DIN cords don't need it, as the chassis ground is connected through the sleeve of the DIN plug. You would only need it to attach record players with RCA wiring. The hum most probably is mechanical noise from the mains transformer - many Beomasters suffer from

  • Re: Beolab 4000 and Static When Powered ON

If you have the later versions (Mk.II) of the Beolabs, you should also be using Mk.3 Powerlink cables. They have additional shielding needed by ICEpower equipped Beolabs.

  • Re: advice about MMC20S Stylus

No. Only MMC1-5 (or the SMMC counterparts from Sound-Smith) will do.

  • Re: BeoSound 5 CD Rip
If the drive is transferring the digital audio over USB to the BM5 where it is then compressed into WMA format then it seems daft not to offer the facility to play the CD (USB) stream too, but then it is B&O we're talking about
I don't see much point in playing a CD and not copying it to the library
