• Re: BM 4000 Mexico

As I was doing the 3702 boxes, and all the tools was there, I went on with the top cover for the BM 400, first I checked if the aluminum rack was realy anodized and not just painted, tested with acetone, it is anodized, to protect it from getting sanded I covered it with painters tape.
The final result looked like this. Half a year later, the pegs still work just fine. Once you get the cloth on the fret board, the fit may be tight enough such that you don't need pegs or any other method to fasten the frets to the cabinet. That's the case with my second pair of M70s out in the garage.

Beautiful cabinets, Soren, and crazy good work on building the replacement fret board!
Hi Rich The boards are 1/4" triply, I hope it does not warp, these frets has no pegs or nothing to hold them, I think they were originally glued to the frame, I want to make it with pegs, you did something with your pegs

When I saw how the fabric and the old fret wood looked, I realized that someone had gone crazy with a can of mate Black paint, and also painted the fine looking aluminum frame, so back to the boxes, cleaned the frame with acetone, in the pic you cen see a rest of black paint in the red circle, and as Jacques is scrutinizing my work this pic extra high

Finished the hard work of sanding and fitting exactly into the box, I went looking in the schack, I found a kind of oil that will protect the wood from aging, worms, mildew, cancer and bad breath for 200 years, I will put some on my face tomorrow. Done

Here the back side. the milling iron I use is old, and as I work with mainly steel and aluminium, of course I had to try it on aluminium, not good, if you buy tools buy quality, thats why the the cuts around the hole with the cross got a little burned, I know, I know its ugly.
