Curl up the excess length of that cable and you can see its nice properties fly out the window. It will only work properly if kept strictly straight. Most likely defective sliders (potentiometers). We've had a couple of threads about that too, it's very common to see the little holding tabs for the bronze sliders broken off. They can be repaired. It will also benefit from a set of new caps, they all will, but my guess is that it's not the reason for the none-working tonecontrol. Martin
