Correct. Having said that, the original schematics will get you a long way and - if not removed by a previous repairer - you will find them in a brown envelope taped to the switch block inside the Beomaster. These schematics will always match the actual set. Martin

The cabinet is now empty. Only the speaker grill and dial frame are still attached and I see no reason why they should be removed so to minimize the risk of damage I will leave them in situ, wipe all remaining dust and dirt out and store the cabinet safely in the box in which the radio arrived, wrapped in towels. Waiting for a suitable volume potentiometer

EKS is short for EKSTRA. It's merely an output for an extra speaker that you could put in f.e. the kitchen or bathroom where stereo wasn't quite as important a feature. Complete service manuals were available for each of the many versions, some manuals cover a couple of versions. They come up in Ebay occasionally. Martin

Replace the rectifier (D8), it will be bad, put in a B40C1500 or similar and while at it, you might as well replace the 470uF cap right next to it, it will also have seen it's best times. Check that the five lamps are of the correct type since wrong lamps will put too high loads on the driving transistors, they will be hot enough with the original

Yes - it could be a sign of aging capacitors. Yes - a capacitor kit is available. But - there can also be other reasons for the missing sound. Did you open the Beocord prior to the fault ? Does the VU meters show the signal from the tape ? Martin
