The 5000 is probably just about the best deck made by B&O. Good heads, HX-Pro and Dolby C. With the right tape it is very difficult to beat.

The major advantage of the 3000 is that it has an ML connection and can work with N.Music in most cases. The early 2300s have two way communication. I don't think the quality of construction changed much though the DAC changes from a 16bit in the early 2300s to Bitstream. Some prefer the 16 bit devices for sound.

Debatable. The first thing is to realise that you will need a turntable and some form of amplifier as the output from the record player will be at a low and unequalised level. No problem. The Tape Copy socket on the front is a Line In/Out socket. You need a 5 pin DIN to probably 2 stereo jacks and you will then have an in and out for the computer. The record player is the best bit of these music centres.

I would set it to 2 initially but would be tempted to try 1. The settings determine the cross over value for the active cross over - 1 is really for the Beolab 2500 which has no bass compared to the other speakers and 2 is a good medium value.

Of course digital should have been built in. And B&O knew it. By the way, typing in capitals makes your posts difficult to read and, in web etiquette, is the equivalent of shouting.
