  • How to read online auction listings

An aspiring new eBayer might benefit from past experiences of other users with a handy, small dictionary of the most common expressions used in listings. Here are some I could think of, hopefully others can add to the list: "untested" = does not work "untested due to lack of cables and/or power cord" = tested, and does not work "externally

  • Re: Off topic:>What to choose - New wooded floor, light or dark?

Do not get a laminate floor! As you say, it is hard which makes it more scratch resistant, but it is therefore also noisy - and I don't like the sound. In addition, laminate is usually very slippery and always feels cold. And when it finally does get scratched, I don't think you can sand it. Good quality real wood floor can be sanded and relacquered

  • Re: More white stuff landing...

Yes... the price could have been better in normal auction ending about now, but I decided to "buy it now" since I'm now in Lisbon The RL's were fine but took a lot of effort getting presentable (you'll find a thread in the workshop forum).

  • Re: How to translate BEO4 command A-V.AUX to BEO5

For what it's worth, my Beomaster 6500 certainly doesn't do anything with V.AUX or PC from Beo4, either.

  • Re: Beocom 1000 Problem

Well done John, I'm not usually that productive when returning from the pub I suppose new phones may have some filtering already built in, the Beocom just loads the line more, or you happened to try it in a socket that interfered the most with your modem. ADSL can correct some line imperfections, but at the cost of bandwidth if some carrier frequencies

  • Re: Beocom 1000 Problem

You probably need to put an ADSL filter between the phone and the socket. When you have a PSTN line and ADSL coming over to your house in a common pair, they use different frequency bands (the phone is baseband as always, and ADSL is configured at the provider end so that it will only use frequencies above that). So in principle they won't bother

  • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

Passion (roughly a soundtrack for "The Last Temptation Of Christ") by Peter Gabriel. An incredible album.

And after assembling the second speaker, here is the end result! The dirtier one (on the right here) still isn't perfect - I believe what ever had splashed on it was strong enough to actually discolour the fabric - but they are immensely better than when I started. These shiny black speakers would be a perfect fit to the BC8000 in the background

  • Re: RL6000 cleaning

Now, there are only the straps left. Wrap them back on - on RL6000's they have no markings so the position doesn't matter - and tighten carefully after making sure they are located in the groove all around. You definitely do not want to snap them now!

Position the damping blocks where they were and reinstall the back cover. Make sure the foam gasket slides in as it was and doesn't get crumbled. Tighten the screws, going from one position to the opposite like you were reinstalling a cylinder head. This will make you feel good. Oh yes, don't forget to reconnect the input wires to the connector
