  • Re: B&O are ready to ship BeoSound 5

The ones issued to dealers initially didn't allow this but I am sure that the delivery models will be fully functional!

Alex: I must say that other than the lack of being able to add your own music to the BeoSound 5, the current software seems flawless! !!!!!

  • Re: Penta Beovox/Beolab

I don't think numbers are meaningless but I do think that you have to listen for yourself. Interestingly, Beovox Pentas are actually reasonably sensitive at 2.5W but I agree with John that my lower powered amplifiers don't seem up to the job of really driving them. The Beomaster 900 mentioned, although low powered by modern standards, was really

  • Re: Beolab 6000 v Beolab 4000 speakers - Which would you go for ???

Alex is quite correct - speakers are a very personal choice so you need to listen to them first. To compare them, they boast the same amplifiers but the 4000 has a volume of 4 litres compared to the 6000 which has only 3 litres. Speaker volume makes a difference to bass reproduction. The tweeters are the same but the 4000 has a single 11cm woofer whereas

  • Re: Redline Speakers...Help

I doubt the cables are responsible. Take them apart and have a look at the drivers. They unscrew into two halves and you can then see the back of the drivers. Possibly a damaged driver but it should not be that expensive to fix.

  • Re: Beosystem 5500 - Good Value?

I like the Beosystem 5500 - lots of connection options. The Beocord is worth very little but the Beomaster and Beogram are both perfectly reasonable and these with the MCP5500 would be a very pleasant system. A CD5500 would be very desirable though (A CD50 would also work). I use a 5500 system every day and like it despite also having a BC2. There are

  • Re: Virgin V+ Control via Beo4

The 7-40 should be more capable as it uses a different STB-C system which can be upgraded via the service tool. The Avant requires a new chip - which is at present not available.

  • Re: Penta Beovox/Beolab

In a 7000 system with Pentalab 2 or 3s, you use the pre-amp in the 7000 and the power amp in the Penta. The power amp in the Penta is quite a bit more powerful that that in the 7000. The 5500 is a bit different as it has no Powerlink sockets so you use Speakerlink which uses the power amplifier of the 5500. However it is used into a very high resistive

  • Re: mmc20 f cartridge, will mmc20 e fit as well?

Not come across an f! Do you mean MMC20S? I would suggest getting a Soundsmith one anyway - will be far better sounding.

  • Re: Bringing my Beo Centre 4000 into the 21st Century

The problem we have here is a lack of inputs. My thought would be that the tape input is the way to go. I will need to check when I get home tonight, but B&O in this era made a lot of Beocenters by simply adding components to existing products. I wonder if the 4000 was similar! There may be a captive DIN socket and plug for the tape section which
