It's very common to see this happen, especially if the Beocord/Beocenter stood unused for a longer period. The gooey mess will clean off with isopropanol (tapehead cleaner / carburettor alcohol), cotton buds and patience. Hard to get off the fingers though so use gloves. I have new belts in stock, also available on Ebay.de Martin

If the BM workd fine, I wouldn't worry too much about that cap. Martin

Could also be a missing ground connection somewhere. Check DC voltages on the tuner output stages. Martin

Have the pins pullled out of the DIN plug or has the wires just broken off the solder tags ? Martin

Well, Chris, We are of apprx the same age so I suppose our memories could be degrading at the same rate. Martin

Check the solders at the ribbon cable plugs to the processor board. The pins and plugs themselves can also fail. Martin

Hej Rasmus, Velkommen til Beoworld ! Do you have the earlier or later model ? The earlier model (70's with the SP type cartridge) should stop when pressing LIFT but they sometimes fail. I don't have a fix for this other than gently lifting the tonearm and bring it over the lead-out grooves where it should lift by itself, bring the tonearm home

It could. Disconnect the head cable, put an ohmmeter across the heads coils and compare the two. Martin

If the problem is in both channels, we will have to search a common place like f.e. the power supply. There are a little handful of cpas on the power supply board (not the large cans sitting in the bracket, they are almost always good), I suggest you check them (read: replace them) before searching elsewhere.
