• Re: Braindead Beomaster 5000

Done. C10 / 1uF from the +5V power supply (similar axial ROE...) was dead as well, replaced by a Wima MKS. C8 (+34V) replaced. C68, C65 and C59 from the CPU board replaced. All voltages that should be there on standby seem present, still no life at all. Argh. Edit: one more thing: TR6 (BD138) on the CPU board - the IR transmitter power stage - gets

  • Re: Newbie questions..

Hi Stewart, and welcome to the forum! I'm afraid the Beocord 5500 is the only piece in addition to the Beomaster that has a chance of working with your MCP. It may be though that the Datalink codes were changed between 5000 & 5500, so I can't be sure about that either. But it's easy to check - just plug it in to the Beomaster and try

  • Re: Braindead Beomaster 5000

Well I dug further into this and the problem seems to be (at least) the reset circuit of the CPU. C59 was pretty much dead and I replaced it. The diodes (D2/D3) measured OK, but still I seem not to get a clean reset signal to the CPU; when looking at it on an oscilloscope, it oscillates fast between 1-2V which probably means the 8051 won't start

  • Re: Beocord 9000 transistor replacements

PF5101 is discontinued and I would expect the PF5013 to be even more so since I can't find a trace of it anywhere (or just a typo in the manual, it wouldn't be the first, nor the last...). Anyway, it's an N-channel junction FET with I_DSSmin = 4.5 mA and pinch-off voltage of 1.0V max. With these specs, my cross reference books give 2SK130

  • Re: Are the new products good enough tot make B&O profitable again?
As I said before I don't think the BV4-103 is very clever because the development costs are probably higher than the earnings will be.
Not necessarily - someone else has already developed the actual panel. All processing is pretty much the same as in smaller TVs so the differences concentrate on the power

  • Re: More white stuff landing...

Thanks. I'll maybe try on the bottom side what happens with cleaning; I actually like the colour as it is now!

  • Re: Beomaster 4400 with Beogram CDX

You can't use the phono input, since there's the RIAA preamp of the BM4400 in the way. But you can plug the CDX to either tape 1 or tape 2 and it will work just fine.

  • Re: Your favorite pinball machines
I just realised there is not topic related to pinball machine. So I just start one in here.
Never occured to me before, but yes, you're right There is something magical about making and seeing mechanical things move instead of a plain video game. I used to play "Medieval Madness" a lot when there

  • Re: Is B&O coming with an separate Bluray player soon?
The government has committed to us having a minimum of 2Mbs connections by 2012 (or something similar).
We're going to have at least 1 Mbps by end of 2010! I have yet to see an online service that (officially) sells to Finland, though.
