In a recent thread (“Some thoughts on B&O, Beoworld and life”, I mentioned that I had taken my first tentative steps into vintage B&O and bought a 1979 Beocenter 4000 very cheaply on ebay. Well the beast arrived yesterday, and, apart from some less than enthusiastic comments from my good lady (“It’s arrived then. Well

Hi NB I used to have a pair of 2702s and they are fine, well-balanced and relatively accurate speakers not unlike a sort of S45.2 for the early 70s. The BM 1001 will drive them well in small to medium rooms. Not sure about the Japanese-built 2100, but the consensus is that it doesn't compare to the Danish-built pieces of the same period (or any

I'm getting long in the tooth now and have not felt the need to join anything since leaving the wolf cubs in disgrace 50 years ago - until I became a member of Beoworld a year or so ago. I have never sensed that anybody was making any money out of this site, and whilst there are obviously some members who know each other well, I wouldn't describe

Thanks to you all for the comments, and I think I have just taken the final step on the road to complete addiction. I've ventured into the world of vintage kit and bought the late 70's /early 80s BC 4000, the BM2200 based cassette receiver, for 30 quid on eBay! Haven't told the lady of the house yet, so not sure I'll be alive to continue

Forgive me if I ramble but I’ve just had a good dinner! I’ve been a member for less than a year, and have wandered regularly around the forums (fora?) looking at bits and pieces, and thrown in a few questions (to which I have received some really helpful advice). I have just read Lee’s thoughts on how he arrived at where he is now

Steve/Jason/Tony Thanks for the various responses. The EU legislation sounds horribly plausibe, but I will investigate the BV 7 connection as an option. Cleve

Help! I have a Beosystem 2500 with the bracket that enables the Beolabs and the central unit to be bolted together and connected to the mains via one single mains plug. The interconnecting power cables between the units are very short with male to female 'figure of eight' plugs/sockets. I already have long Powerlink 1 cables to enable me to

Yes, Peter, indeed I have! It's one of the reasons my interest levels have gone up again. If the 9500 may contibute to the maintenance of domestic harmony, then that may be the way to go, although I still like the idea of a Beogram 4000! Have you still got the LS 3/5s in use? Cleve

Hi Alex, Sadly no - I hadn't really discovered the joys of a decent FM tuner/aerial at the time. As far as replacing the 4000 with a Linn, I was a lot younger then and very foolish and became convinced by all the hype surrounding the LP 12. I still have a soft spot for the Electrostatics though. I may still buy a 4000 but then I will probably want

Thanks Peter Incidentally, I blame you and the Jarman brothers for a rejuvenation of interest in buying old B and O. Having owned various bits of B and O since 1971, including a Beogram 4000 (playing through a Sugden A48 Mk 1 - very sweet sounding but ugly), I ended up with a Linn LP12/SME/Shure V15iv/Quad 34/FM4/405/ESL 57s. However, I was worrying
