  • Re: BeoLab 4000,- now driven by ICEpower!

Anyone has a feeling that they will upgrade the Beolab 6000 to be better sounding than the Beolab 4000? I simply admire the design of the Beolab 6000 but not very convinced with the sound.

  • Re: B&Os new high-end (digital!) Hi Fi system announced

It will be nice if B&O introduce a harddrive based high end source. By using a computer processor to retrieve data and store it into a harddrive it is essentially loss free and that is one of the reasons why Ipods have extremely low jitter. A computer can't accept flawed digital data or it will crash. I think this is the future.

I just made a new discovery. I tried the BS2 again with my very effecient earphones and the noise level is significantly higher than the ipods although I do prefer the richer sound though. I think I might actually prefer BS2. It was the earphones that made the Ipod possess a more natural sound I think, as much as I like the design of the earphones supplied

Alex: Which iPod are you referring to? I agree with you if it's older iPods, below the 5th generation, but my 80gb video has a poorer amplifier section and hence tends to yelp a bit at higher volumes and hence can be very fatiguing at higher volumes. IMO, overall the BS2 sounds better with 192 or even 256 compressed music than the iPod ever could

  • Re: Beolab 8000 IEC-Power?

If you haven't yet notice B&O isn't very responsive. They are a more of art house company or at least they used to market themselves as one. Anyways what I like about digital technology is that it is relatively affordable but can perform excellently and they are green. Imagine pure digital processing from the beginning to the end with only

Alex: I actually think the BeoSound 2 sounds better playing 256 mp3 than my iPod does with lossless! Also I'd agree that from what we've seen it would look better with the soft-touch coating. However, I might like the feel in real life so I'm not sure yet... The beosound 2 is more punchy but uncompressed on Ipod sound more natural. My ears

Deep bass from small enclosures do mean you need lots of power my friend. You need the bass driver to move a greater distance to create the same amount of bass you get from a larger one. Ever wonder why subwoofers need high power? An amplifier with high output will also mean that it can handle more complex recording better for example an orchestra.

  • Re: Beolab 8000 IEC-Power?

Note that BeoLab 8000 came out over then yrs ago. The amplification section in BL8000 wouldn't even be able to compete with a budget amplifier of today. The frequency response is bad, damping factor also bad, slew rate very bad, noise bad so upgrading it with Ice will definitely make a marked improvement. Digital amplifiers aren't good at high

Oh I am both in delight and disgust. Delighted by the upgrade and disgusted by the total corporate implementation of the upgrade. 35watts from digital amplifiers? Come on..... Isn't the benefit from digital amplifiers suppose to be limitless undistorted power at your disposal? They probably settle on this power rating to fit BL 4000 comfortably

Not a bad design. Very timeless and also very boring. It can do much better with a magnesium shell coated with B&O famous soft touch. I do most of my ripping uncompressed so I will pass on this. I can't wait for the latest phone though. If they fail to delight me again, I will definitely splurge on a Vertu.
