Hi, Hopefully this will dispell the confusion! 1) Powerlink mark 1 cable is only useful for non-digital Beolab speakers without displays. 2) Powerlink mark 2 can be used for ANY Beolab speaker with 8pin sockets. 3) Powerlink mark 3 can be used for any Beolab speaker WITHOUT displays EXCEPT Beolab 5. I don't manufacture a Powerlink mark 1 compatible

Hi, Try Gavin at STB (see his advert on Beoworld for contact details). Best regards, Steve.

Hi Lee, You are correct - no adapter is needed! The BC2300 does have pin 7 of the Powerlink output sockets grounded, but for a different purpose. Back in the "good old days" when the 2300 was produced, Beolab Pentas were still roaming the earth, so it will have pin 7 connected as a "data ground" as opposed to the newer "voltage

Hi Christian, IBM tend to use fairly good audio kit in their laptops, my Lenovo Thinkpad (IBM with a different label) sounds fine using the built-in headphone amp. Maybe not hifi quality, but fine for playing MP3 files. Probably the best thing to do is to try it and see if it is good enough for what you need. Regards, Steve.

Just a thought:- If the BGCD3500 is going in your office, is there a PC or laptop in there? If so, why not connect the CD player to the Line In socket of the PC and plug your headphones into the PC? = minimal cost, no extra space needed..... Steve.

I wondered when this one would come up again! Yes, standard Powerlink cables are perfectly adequate in most cases, although you may wish to consider a few situations where something different may be worthy of consideration:- 1) Powerlink mark 1 cables (the really thin ones) often had thinner copper cores, making them susceptible to breaking with repeated

Welcome to the Forum Nes! The main thing is not to panic. For an expensive loudspeaker, the drivers inside BeoLab 8000 are surprisingly cheap to replace (around £30 each from memory?) I'm sure Graham will have more info than me on up to date prices. Anyway, they are not too scary to change. Steve.

Hee hee! I'm just surprised that someone else appears to be on my wavelength for once! Cheers, Steve.

Hi, You will probably find that the volume needs to be very low, as even a small volume in the variable line outputs will become a BIG volume once the 'Lab 9's have amplified it! One other option if you want to play safe is to buy a cheap hifi pre-amp and connect this between the TV and the speakers. This can be hidden out of the way, with the

Good point Graham, However, I think the earlier tangential turntables can be bargains, as phono pre-amp kits can be added to easily connect them to modern B&O systems. I still love my old Beogram 3000 (no built-in pre-amp) and this cost a fraction of what I could have paid for a Beogram 4500 (with pre-amp) in similar condition. Once I'd sorted
