It sounds to me like you should ask your dealer to come round with a pair of Lab9's and a pait of Lab 5's for you to audition as otherwise you will only ever be guessing about how they might sound in your room! Simon

There is certainly no point in B&O manufacturing their own mobile phones as they will simply never sell the volumes to make their phones anything less than eye-poppingly expensive and in terms of features and/or usability the iPhone is going to take some beating. Look at the Beosound 6's failure against the iPod for the dangers of going down
Ah now that I had never thought of! I've only ever tried to recone two (identical) drivers and failed - they worked, but sounded poor and sounded very strange off-axis (huge mid-spike, all other mids disappeared ).
My attempted repairs were as succesful as yours. I bought new drivers! Simon

Send a PM (Start a conversation) to Martin (Username Dillen) and he will be able to sort you out with a capacitor kit and instructions. You don't really need a circuit diagram as you are just cutting the old ones out and soldering the new ones in their place. Simon

I bought a set of drivers for my CX50's from my dealer last month for £25 each. It is a five minute per speaker easy soldering job to change them even if (like me) you have very basic skills with a soldering iron. I suspect recone would charge more than that to refoam them them as refoaming is quite labour-intensive. Simon

The SMMC2 cartridge is excellent. But it does cost a lot of money and the SMMC4 is a good catrtridge in it's own right. It is questionable whether the extra performace justifies the substantial extra cost. With VAT and deivery in the UK you are lookingat around £150 for an SMMC4 and £420 for the SMMC2. Simon

Glad to see it has gone to a good home! It was a very kind offer. Simon

Congratulations on your purchase! I have yet to hear of anyone who has been disappointed by the Beomaster/Beolab 5000 combination. Simon
