There is always (for those still on passive speakers) the Bang and Olufsen Ambio Unit. A pair of Red Line 140s at the front with P45s as ambiophonic speakers to the rear adds a small amount of rear presence without distracting from the main stereo image. Not sure how this would work with my active speakers though!

I have voted for neither - not because of age and there is no doubt about the style, but the performance can be matched with alternatives. I prefer the sound of the older M and S (not the shop!) RL and C speakers driven by an MCL2P if necessary as already mentioned in a previous reply. I have a pair of wall mounted P45s that provide a very clear sound

Craig's answer is correct. The MCP5000 and Terminal 5000 are the only remotes that operate the Beosystem 5000. You also need the MCL82 if you wish to extend the system to more rooms, rather than the MCL2. Brian

The data display information is carried on the shield.

I have Penta Mk 3s one of which does not switch to standby when the BM7000 that drives them is turned off. Could this be due to a sticking relay and if so how easy is it to repair or replace? Also does anyone know which of the 8 powerlink cables carries the data display signal information to the Penta? Thanks for any help

Display issue partially resolved. I tried another powerlink lead and that enabled the display to work! I have tested the existing leads with a mulitmeter and each pin shows a complete circuit, but 1 out of my 3 leads does not work! Does anyone know which of the 8 pins carries the display information so I can double check that particular pin? With regard

In response to your query Powerlink and L and R rather than auto

Does anyone know why a Penta III sometimes shows the display (one speaker only - the other one works all the time!) and powers off )ie red light on) and other times does not (ie green light still on)? Leads and output (from a BM 7000) have been swapped to check it is not those at fault. I am wondering if it is in the speaker itself and if so how can

Self tapping screws ? Make sure they do not snag the cable though!

Thanks for the reply. I did not phrase the question as well as I might have! I know what shift does on my Beolink and can pick up the feature on the BEO4. I am more concerned about hidden features so as A.Aux and what the other numbers do. I have an MCL2AV that I am trying to control and am hoping that someone else may have come across some useful codes
