  • Re: Question about Beogram 4000

Peter: Thanks for the pictures... its gorgeous. If you ever have the need to take the cover off the 4000, I'd love to see the intricate mechanism inside. Where does the strobe track the speed? Are the markings on a subplatter? Btw... how do you attach pictures to these posts? Derek

  • Question about Beogram 4000

Hi: Can anyone tell me how speed on AC motor in the Beogram 4000 is regulated? Is it dependent on the the frequency of the powerline? If Europe runs on 50Hz will the deck run faster in North America where the frequency is 60 Hz? I'm also curious how the "strobe" function works, and what it does. There are two lenses on the control surface

  • MMC Failing Suspension?

Hi: How I can tell if the suspension of my cartridge is failing. What are the telltale signs? I have newly acquired a Beogram 4002 turntable. When I received it the photo sensor in base of the tone arm which controls the lateral movement was out of alignment. When you press the needle descend, the arm would slide over before dropping. With Martin's

  • Re: Soundsmith Cartridges

I wonder what happened to the B&O tooling and jigs for these cartridges. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that someone is still manufacturing cartridges for B&O. It shouldn't cost too much to nickle the plate the outer shell. In fact that's what they do with rapid prototyping molds created from plastic. Aesthetics is a big part

  • Soundsmith Cartridges

Hi Peter, Chris: Is there any reason why Soundsmith is not manufacturing the B&O replacement cartridges with the original brushed metal case? The black molded plastic shell makes them look cheap in spite of their cost adn despite their quality. If enough of us wrote to them and kindly suggested that we would appreciate the original shell they might

  • Re: Beocord 9000 Motor

Hi Chris: I do not have a part number. This information was relayed to me by a B&O tech. The motor is going to run upwards of $50 plus $20 or so for belts. I'm wondering if it is worth it to fix or if there is a cheaper way of going about it. Thanks, Derek

  • Re: Beocord 9000 Motor

Hi: Are the transistor and capacitor that you speak of inside the motor casing? One day the deck was turning very slowly. I took the casette mechanism out of the deck. I put the deck into "Play" mode and using my finger gently turned the shaft of the motor to get it spinning. During every revolution I noticed that the fuse was glowing bright

  • Beocord 9000 Motor

Hi: I'm stil debating whether I should invest in parts to bring up a Becord 9000. So far it needs a new motor and belts. I'm told that the original Mitsubishi motor is no longer available. The substitute one (from B&O) made by Mabuchi. I'm told that it is a fraction of the size of the original and not as well built. Does anyone have

  • Re: B&O Mac Mod

Beocool: I see where you are coming from and agree with your views about gutting old equipment. I don't use the cassette portion of my 9500. The panel interface is for the tape function is quite sophisticated and it would be nice if it could be used to control an MP3 player. But I would never take out the tape mechanism and stick an ipod inside
