  • Re: Beolab 5000 system

The service manual is on site - it is a good one! It is not difficult to get the top off though!

As a short term fix, it will do no harm at all. I would try the DVD directly into the Beolab just to see if your TV is reducing the output. Have you been on Frede's site? Well worth it - it has the user manual on and lots of information.

Which input are you using? There are level adjustments on the bottom of the Beolab if you need them. I would imagine that your dealer will have very little idea of what a Beolab 5000 is, let alone being able to service it. Unless you are very fortunate, they will use a centralised service department. Frede is the person to talk about a proper restoration

I agree with the above. You can play CDs through the BM1100 via the Tape socket. A Beogram CDX would be a good choice. You will need an adapter cable as mentioned above. • Re: BEO 5 help !

I would ask Keith using the contact box at the bottom of the screen. I think he knows more about the Beo5 than anyone else in this country!

Of course what you really need is this - no point messing around with cheap rubbish. If used with a kettle, the water molecules all line up and will stir the tea for you.

  • Re: Advice on System Setup

The RIAA will need to be researched as the problem with 78 records is that there was no real standard. Therefore the equalisation varies . I gave all my 78s away as I never listened to them and gave my BG1000 away at the same time! The RIAA will be a pre-amplifier to bring the signal up to line level.
