Black IMO, is probably more timeless that red and dark grey ;) Silver and black is really common so black will set it apart. You might get tired of grey or red. Depends on your own taste though. Joe

You can still get these repaired but the cost might surpass the cost of a new unit. Call your local service center, they will probably be happy to give you a price. Joe

I sent one in to be repaired recently. It was going to cost $325 to be fixed, I told them to keep it. They originally sold for $250 then $275 before they were discontinued. Since you can't get them anymore, its probably not a bad deal.

However, I have been informed that if you go to the outlying areas, where the 850 band is more prevalent, because the 850 band is better for transmitting over longer distances, then this is problematic, since Serene is a tri-band, and not a quad band phone. Alex: Yes, it's the thermal protection cutting in. I've done it numerous times with BeoLab 5s Same here, it can be such a pain sometimes when there are a lot of people. But at least they are protected. Have not heard of the BL9s shutting down though. Or any other B&O speakers for that matter. Joe

I think, but not positive, that the extra pin was made for the Pentas. They had a display that gave the volume and other info like bass and treble. Maybe someone else can add more. Joe

Its not worth to effort to replace the panel, and not cost effective. Its easier to sell the old one and buy a new one. Even then, its very difficult to see the different between the two panels unless they are side by side. Joe
