Because I have a MK-II in a drawer?? I checked my beomaster 4500 today while re-gluing the glass. It is supposed to have the old chip but has a MK-V as well. Guess I'll just order one and be done with it then. Marc

Does anyone know the difference between the STK4151, 4151-II, 4151-V chips? Looking at the schematics between a beomaster 4500 and beocenter 9500, they seem identical in pinout and parameters. I need to replace a MK-V but only have a MK-II. Want to make sure before I solder one in. Thanks.

I take it that a careful cleaning with 99% alcohol and a swab won't fix it? Was it physically damaged? Marc

Needs a good cleaning, and I have found that the motor could use clean and lube on the older CDM mechs. Nothing major, but a tech needs to do it.

Well, if you look at it technologically only, the 9000 would be a small downgrade. It is older internally. The 4500 is based on the 9500, with newer components and a newer laser assembly. However, if you have ONLY a beomaster 4500 without the CD, etc... I'd go for it. The 9000 is pretty easy to service, and I'd bet the door(s) just need new

I had the same problem. The solution was to have BOTH. I now the proud and very happy owner of a complete Beosystem 4500 AND a Beocenter 9500. There's always room for both in the house. And I very much like the look of both. Not too smitten with B&O's newer systems except the Beosystem 9000.

Wow, David.... That's somewhat similar to my own story, except I originally came from Berlin, Germany. At the time B&O was like something from another planet to me.
