Found it -- it's a small black splitter, outwardly identical to any other $0.99 splitter from a hardware store, but labelled TEL and ANS on the two female connections. Will test do a continuity test to see how it is wired and report back...

Update! It appears the vintage 1986 trimmers are having no effect on setting the bias correctly. I have heard that these are a common point of failure ("a complete nightmare," according to one authorized technician,) and so will replace both the 220Ω and 100Ω units with new, high-quality components. I am looking for ones which can be adjusted "through

I can try and take apart the splitter that I do have, to see what's going on inside. It may be as simple as just a few wires placed in a nonstandard arrangement...

Having been in a similar situation, I believe I can say that the phone line splitter is indeed not a normal one, but specifically engineered for this product. My solution to having a 1401 without this important part was to wait until another one came up on eBay, this time with it included. I have spoken with Arlington Heights headquarters and they say

Can anyone detail how to properly measure and adjust the offset and bias on the Penta amplifies (BeoLab 150/200)? The service manual says to measure over R103/R104 and adjust for 30mv, but I'm not quite sure if they mean that both resistors should be tested separately or somehow across one another...? Thanks!

Try removing the two plastic display lenses, carefully, because the clips can be fragile. You should then be able to pull out both display units a few inches. Disconnect the cables, swap the two displays, and see what happens...

Yes, I think the main problem is that complicated configuration questions are ill-suited for a real-time query-and-response format. An asynchronous format such as a discussion forum allows people to think through their responses. As B&O have this already, I don't know why they don't make use it for this purpose. I dare say few of our technical experts

Yes, pictures would be much appreciated! Not sure if we have any interior shots of this model...
