Now I have installed the belts Martin sent me in the Beocord 5000. I'm happy to report that this sems to have cured all faults with this deck. As far as I can tell, it now functions exactly as it should. Some trimming might improve it even further but as it is, it sounds good recording new tapes and playing back old ones, made on other machines
You can add a little silicone grease to the slider grooves in the plastic casing and also to the center metal plate if your sliders have it. Martin
I just realized what caused the dead spots on the volume control. The contact points on the wiper were completely worn down! This Beomaster must have been used a
This is one of the sliders in my BM3000 when I took it apart just a few days ago. I had "cleaned" it once before by spraying contact cleaner into the slider but here you can see clearly that the slider should be opened and cleaned properly! This is the same slider after some cleaning: And yes, it does sound

OK, so you can take them apart without unsoldering them. That's good because then you don't risk resoldering them the wrong way. I'll take them apart for sure. But what's the best way to open up the slider shells?

I just received a Beomaster 3000-2. The positives first: It actually works, at least on the radio (haven't tested the rest) No significant damages on the front panel It seems to be untouched by amateur repair. The schematics were still in the envelope and looked like new. The negatives: It stinks! It has clearly belonged to acigarrette smoker. It
Almost surely. If you open it up and turn the mechanism by hand you should be able to free the tape. Don't try to force the tape out, it will just bend the tape guides and make it a lot worse.
Well, unfortunately the tape prevented the control panel (and the rest) from coming off. But I unscrewed the top

Today I received a Beogram CD50 and a Beocord 5000. They are a bit out of my favourite era (1969-75) but I wanted to be able to play CDs. I got the Beocord from the same seller for just SEK 100 (£9), so I couldn't resist it. The drawer design is actually quite cool. The CD50 had a jammed disc drawer. I opened it up and as I had expected, it

My Beomaster 901 had this problem when I got it. There was very little sound in the left channel when using the tape input but the mono button restored the volume. The radio worked fine on both channels. After some use this problem has decreased and now it seems to have disappeared completely. I would suspect some capacitor at the input. Bad electrolytics

Ok. I just like to add that any filter has a phase shift around the cutoff frequency. So for this reason, you might want to select the coupling capacitor value for a considerably lower cutoff frequency than the limit of hearing – say 5 Hz. If B&O actually did this, you might not lose much bass response if you reduce the capacitor value somewhat
-
It is only the COUPLING capacitors which I would consider decreasing the capacitance, and then only according my ears!
Well, the coupling capacitor (C) forms a high pass filter together with the load impedance of the following circuit (R). The cutoff frequency of this high pass filter (F) is 1/(2*pi*R*C). If
