Whilst I'm waiting on a couple of SP12 possibilities, I've been given an apparently unused SP14 stylus. The motor seems free to spin, the idler engages and belt still grips and once unlocked, the suspension is level and bounces beautifully. I looked underneath and couldn't believe the huge suspended casting - no wonder the thing's so

Thanks very much indeed for the info and offer to look for the trim plate. Memories become jumbled over the decades, but I had such fond memories of the 'Gram 3000 I couldn't resist it. Perhaps the sub-chassis has extra weighting, I don't know, but I'm sure the difference in performance between the 1202 and 3000 is more than "just"

A couple of questions please, if someone can help me? I've just bought a Beogram 3000 type 5228. The cartridge needs a new stylus (Axel can do this re-tip for not much money) usual linkages need cleaning but the motor runs and the belt seems to have some life in it yet. My questions are as follows - The platter is original, but I'm sure the

Apologies, but I'm yet another of those "horrid" Brits who doesn't speak another language... From what you are saying on this thread, it may be well worth their while doing their pages in English for us poor unfortunates... These old cartridges are still too good to let them fade away (I currently have an original "new" MMC20CL

Oh yes indeedy. Happy New Year to all.........

We weren't as gracious as the indicated thread suggests, using switch cleaner solvent and vigorously pumping the cueing lifting "pin" in and out to free it off. You won't need to add any fresh damping grease, as the lift/lower action on the main cam is gentle enough I found. Great little deck the 1700, especially with one of the better

I always thought the 7007 to be an excellent unit. Does the turntable have the MMC20EN fitted? if so, you're going to have to go quite a way to find anything for a typical Thorens deck/arm to equal, let alone better it... May I very respectfully suggest that the KEF Concerto on low stands (NOT on the floor please) would see off most B&O speakers

I'd say from my point of view, that the RL140 was a very reasonable speaker and by far the best of that series. The RL45 was all midrange and the RL60 could sound bland in the wide scheme of things. Capacitor upgrades could work wonders here, as the innards look to be very well made indeed otherwise. At least the 140 could rock, given half a chance

The 20EN was my favourite overall of that generation (the CL I have is very refined though, but needs a warm room now it's getting on in years, despite being practically "new"). Of the later ones, the MMC4 was a good all-rounder but again, the 2 and 1 had something in terms of refinement. I'd personally say that you needed a "universal

As I said in the "other" Beogram 1700 thread, the 1700 is a super little deck that more than help its own against the Rega 2 of the period and if it's in good nick I'd keep it. Clients with "audiophile" aspirations bought the Rega and music lovers who valued good sound and "auto" operation bought the 1700. I seem
